Jesuit high school will host Homecoming: Under the Stars on October 30th, 2021.

On October 30th, 2021, Jesuit High School is hosting their annual homecoming dance, the first Homecoming since October 2019.

When organizing this year’s dance, student government had to take into consideration the ever changing COVID-19 protocols, while making sure the dance will be fun for everyone.

The theme this year: Under the Stars!

Students will enjoy music and socially distanced dancing with their friends in Hayes Plaza and Smith Gym. Because Homecoming will be partially outside, it is recommended that students bring a coat, sweater, or jacket to stay warm.

The dance will be split into two sessions to minimize potential exposure: freshmen and sophomores will attend from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, while juniors and seniors will be welcome from 8:00pm to 9:30pm.

“If, say, a sophomore and junior want to go together, that is allowed. However, the junior has to go to the sophomore dance,” student government officer and junior at Jesuit, Brynn Ensminger said.

Students planning to switch dances must fill out a guest pass and should be aware they will not be allowed to attend the later dance if they choose to go to the freshman/sophomore dance.

It is important that students remember, they must get an antigen test on Saturday before the dance in order to attend.

“Students need to prove that they took the test. What we’re going to do is when they come on Saturday morning to take the test, they’ll get a star. They’ll put the star on the back of their ID . That proves to us that they were there taking the test,” Activities Director, Dr. Exley said.

Students will not be allowed into the dance if they can not prove they took an antigen test.

When they arrive at the dance, students will be able to drop off their belongings at a bag check. Freshmen and sophomores can do so in the student center, and juniors and seniors in the PAC lobby.

Additionally, social distancing will be in effect, meaning no large groups or moshing. Students who cannot follow covid protocols may be asked to leave.
