Math Finals Guide

Interview with Mr. Scott Reis, AP AB & BC Calculus teacher.

Purpose of a math final: I hope it will encourage my students to step back and go over things they have not looked at in a long time. Preparing for a final exam will help students solidify concepts and formulas in their brains by relearning the material. Repetition & practice are vital to preparing for any major test.

Advice for a math final: For a math final, make a practice test. That could look different for everyone. I would recommend drafting a practice test early on with questions and an answer key. If a problem is easy, maybe don’t put that one on the practice test. Instead, focus on questions that are harder or that you missed on previous quizzes or tests. By being an active learner, instead of just looking over your notes, you can achieve success on any final.
