A junior at Jesuit High School, Kelsey Jones is a writer for Jesuit Chronicle. She is excited to pursue her love for writing and news through her participation in journalism this year. Although this is her first year writing for the Jesuit Chronicle, Kelsey first discovered her passion for journalism working as a writer and editor for her middle school’s newspaper, The Panther Press. Since then, she has continued to cultivate her love for writing through Jesuit’s English program as well as writing for fun in her free time. Her writing focuses on current events and issues, social justice, education, sports, and the arts. Outside of the classroom, Kelsey is an enthusiastic sports fan as well as an avid reader. She enjoys playing lacrosse, watching movies, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog.

Allie Ruden, Staff Writer
Allie Ruden is a junior at Jesuit High School and a first year journalism student. Allie was born in Portland, Oregon and is an only child. She has a labradoodle named Daisy who loves to nap and sunbathe. In Allie’s free time she loves to read, cook, and listen to all kinds of music. She loves to explore around Portland with her friends. Her favorite places to eat in Portland are Bamboo Sushi, JoLa Cafe, and Grassa (highly recommended). Allie enjoys going to the beach, especially Manzanita and Lincoln City, and travelling all around Bend. She loves writing and her favorite subjects in school are English and Spanish. She has been taking Spanish for three years and is hoping to go and visit Spain as soon as possible. She is hoping to travel to as many countries as she can once the pandemic is over. Allie is interested in writing articles about music, pop culture, and the Jesuit community. She is excited to be able to write about what she is passionate about and delve into issues important to her. Allie is thrilled to be writing for The Jesuit Chronicle this year and is hoping to meet some new faces!

Lauren Herrick, Staff Writer
Lauren Herrick is a junior at Jesuit High School. This is her first year taking journalism, but she has been interested in journalism as a whole and potential career path since grade school. Outside of school, Lauren enjoys reading, music, spending time with friends, traveling, working out, and spending time in nature. She hopes to develop leadership and collaboration skills while learning and diving into the world of journalistic writing this year. She is excited to interview people around the school, explore different issues and stories, and incorporate some of her passions into her writing as well.
