Women’s Varsity Soccer Playoff Preview
Women’s Soccer looks to bounce back in the playoffs this year after losing to Forest Grove in the quarter-finals last season.
The Crusaders have been crushing their opponents with a record of 14-0. Jesuit’s unfaltering domination has led them to the top of state rankings.
Jesuit’s best game came against a strong Grant team, where they won 1-0 on Cronin Field off an Abby Cox goal. You can find a recap of that game here.
One of the main reasons for the Crusaders’ dominance is due to their impeccable defense. Throughout the season, the team has only conceded four goals. This impressive record can be attributed to the strong performances of Eva Grunkemeier and Sophia Stiles.
Offensively, Jesuit has boundless talent. Freshman Mariane Dunne and sophomore Claudia Rose have produced consistent performances all season. Collectively, the team has scored 52 goals so far.
Jesuit also went undefeated in Metro and won the title with a record of 6-0. The Crusaders pulled out impressive wins against tough opponents. They defeated #3 ranked Sunset 3-1, and got revenge on Beaverton with a 2-0 win on Senior Night.
The standard is high for the Crusaders in the playoffs. Ranking #1 in OSAA as well as #4 nationally, Jesuit is undeniably one of the top teams in the state.
In the first round of playoffs, the Crusaders will face #32 ranked Sprague this Saturday. The winner of this game will play #17 ranked Oregon City or #16 ranked West Salem. Jesuit looks to breeze to a win and continue their undefeated record.
