Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Postseason Preview
Coming off of an undefeated season so far, Jesuit Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams are both looking to claim state titles this weekend.
The men, who won the state title last year, are aiming to go back to back while the women’s team is aiming for redemption from a close second last year to Summit high school.
After going 1-5 at the Metro League District Meet, Jesuit is led by Senior Jacob Nenow, who set the course record at that meet. Along with Nenow, Gus Clevenger, Caden Swanson, Josh Augustine, and Freshman Matthew Wroblewski round out their top 5.
On the women’s side, Sophomore Maura O’Scannlain has been leading the crusader women all season. Along with O’Scannlain, Lilliana Hudnut, Maggie Bennett, Amalie Beil, and Audrey O’Neil round out their top 5.
A state title for would add to a very strong field in the Nike Cross Regional Meet, held in Boise Idaho.
The top 2 teams from the Nike Cross Regional Meet will go on to compete at the Nike Cross Nationals race held in Portland, Oregon at Glendoveer Golf Course on December 3.
The scene is set for a rainy meet on Saturday with the 6A women’s race at 2:55 p.m. and the 6A men’s race at 3:30 p.m. With the success both teams have seen this season, the crusaders will look to continue their streak this Saturday and leave everything on the course.
storytelling is at the forefront of his life, through seeking out new adventures and finding creative ways to describe the world around him. As a young kid, Gus was surrounded with art and
writing and never saw himself doing much of anything else. Through listening to his dad make up crazy stories about made up characters, to walking around OHSU and sitting through
interviews of dental students with his mom, storytelling was always there. This will be Gus’s second year as an editor and writer for the Jesuit Chronicle. In his first year as a Journalism
Student, he learned the fundamentals of Indesign as well as explored topics ranging from the Jesuit administrative policies to food writing. Gus enjoys writing opinions , sharing different
perspectives, and connecting people through stories. He hopes to continue discovering what he loves to write about as well as continue to put passion into his work to connect the Jesuit
community through stories and discussion. In his free time, Gus enjoys running, cooking, drawing, going on long walks, and being with family.
