About the Writers
Kelsey Jones, Editor in Chief
A senior at Jesuit High School, Kelsey Jones is a writer and editor for The Jesuit Chronicle. She is excited to pursue her love for writing and news through her involvement in media studies this year. Although this is her second year participating in Jesuit’s media program, Kelsey first discovered her passion for journalism working as a writer and editor for her middle school’s newspaper, The Panther Press. Since then, she has continued to cultivate her love for writing through Jesuit’s English program as well as writing for fun in her free time. Her writing focuses on current events and issues, social justice, education, sports, and the arts. Outside of the classroom, Kelsey is an enthusiastic sports fan as well as an avid reader. She enjoys playing lacrosse, watching movies, and spending time with her friends, family, and dog.
Allie Ruden, Editor in Chief
Allie Ruden is a senior at Jesuit High School and a second-year journalism student. Allie was born in Portland, Oregon, and is an only child. She has a labradoodle named Daisy who loves to nap and sunbathe. In Allie’s free time she loves to read, cook, and listen to all kinds of music. She loves to explore Portland with her friends. Her favorite places to eat in Portland are Bamboo Sushi, JoLa Cafe, and Grassa (highly recommended). Allie enjoys going to the beach, especially Manzanita and Lincoln City, and traveling all around Bend. She loves writing and her favorite subjects in school are Journalism, English, and Spanish. Allie is interested in writing articles about music, pop culture, and the students and issues of the Jesuit community. She is excited to be able to write about what she is passionate about and delve into issues important to her. Allie is thrilled to be writing for The Jesuit Chronicle this year and is hoping to meet some new faces!
Jack O’Connor, Staff Writer
Senior Jack O’Connor joined the journalism world this year to make his impact. At Jesuit, he plays tennis, and is involved with the theater program. Outside of school, he loves to hangout with his friends, listen to music, travel, ski, climb, and create unforgettable memories. Jack is intrigued by the ever-evolving world of technology, and enjoys learning about the latest developments in the industry. He is excited to begin his journey as a journalist, meet new people, learn new skills, and inform the student body.
