The men’s basketball season is right around the corner. Coming off a Metro League title last season, the team is looking to accomplish more this year.

The team is led by a strong group of seniors, with a great supporting group of juniors and sophomores. This year’s team is different from last year’s, and senior Owen Davies, talked about the impact.

“We are dedicated to winning this season. Everyone has been working very hard on and off the court this year,” Davies said.

The Metro League is going to be tougher to win this year. It will be one of the most competitive leagues in Oregon, and Jesuit understands what they have to do to win.

“The big focus is to win games in a tougher Metro League this year,” Davies shared. “To do this the team is going to need to play some really good basketball which has been happening in practice.”

Every year right after Christmas, the men’s team participates in  the Les Schwab Invitational, a tournament where some of the best teams in the country, as well as in Oregon, come to compete.

“The LSI is always a fun time,” Davies shared. “We get to play some of the best, and it makes us better as a team, and sometimes even gives us some needed confidence.”

The ultimate goal is to win it all, but to do that, the team has to make it to the Chiles Center. Unfortunately they came up short last year. Seniors Cade Collins and Isaiah Crane have been working very hard since the loss last year, and do not want to see a repeat.

“Summer league has been huge, we have been playing together for a long time and have become a very strong team,” Collins shared. “Our main goal is to make it to the Chiles Center this year.”

“Everyone on the team is extremely motivated to win state,” Crane shared.” Our offense is looking very good and our defense has only been improving.”
