Jesuit won their fourth game in a row after defeating Sunset 71-32 on Friday night.

A strong defensive performance propelled the Crusaders to a 71-32 win over Sunset on Friday night.

The game began with a fast-paced tempo, and Jesuit capitalized quickly as they sprang out to an early 4-0 lead. Later on, senior guard Isaiah Crane showed off his range by splashing a contested three-pointer.

By the end of the first quarter, the score was 13-4. The Crusaders clearly dominated on both ends and looked to extend their lead.

The second quarter was more of the same, as Jesuit played suffocating defense. Patrick Kelley showcased his abilities by emphatically blocking a shot from Sunset’s Jett Birdsall. The half ended with Jesuit holding a 29-8 lead.

It was smooth cruising in the second half for the Crusaders. The team continued to find success offensively, as Cade Collins started to knock down jumpers. Jesuit stayed aggressively defensively, forcing many Apollo turnovers. Collins showed off his athleticism with a dunk mid-way through the quarter.

The third quarter was capped off by a buzzer-beater three by Henry Smith. The Crusaders took a 46-21 lead heading into the last eight minutes.

Jesuit persisted in their efforts, and easily closed out the fourth quarter. The game ended as a 71-32 win for Jesuit, bringing their Metro record to 6-1.

The Crusaders are currently ranked #15 in OSAA with a 12-7 overall record. The team looks to come out strong against Metro League opponents Mountainside on Tuesday.
