Men’s LAX RECAP: Jesuit blanks Mountainside 20-0
Jesuit’s strong offense propelled the Crusaders to a 20-0 win against Mountainside on Thursday night.
The game started with an eventful first quarter with multiple goals from Junior attack Luke Bayne. By the end of the first quarter, Jesuit was in the lead 10-0.
Jesuit goalie Brady Smith left the goal open, prompting a shot from Mountainside. Not one to let the ball into the goal, Smith dove for the save.
The second quarter was a little slower, with lots of action from both goalies. Mountainside’s goalie Connor Riley kept the score down, though Jesuit’s strong offense continued to dominate.
The end of the half brought the score up to 14-0. This half was a strong showing for Jesuit’s faceoff middies, Carson Jess and Luke Johnson who alternated face offs, winning each one.
After the start of the second half, the game was played with a running clock due to the high score discrepancy. Only one goal was scored in the entire third quarter by sophomore Thatcher Killian.
At the end of the third quarter, the score was 15-0. With such a high score, many players who don’t normally get to start received a lot of playing time.
At the end of the game, the score was 20-0.
This win brought the Crusaders to a record of 11-3. Next week, they will play Aloha on Monday, which will be their senior night.
