As the Crusaders continued their playoff run into the second round, the Grant Generals were seeking the upset.
Throughout the first set, the generals proved they can compete. Keeping the set between 2 points almost the entire time, their back row retaliated against the Crusaders strong hitters, including sophomore Sadie Ross.
At the end of the first set, however, Jesuit pulled through, winning 25-19.
Entering the second set, the Crusaders battled the Generals with hard blocks and serves. Sophomore Sloan Hefeneider offered several powerful serves and sets, which the Crusaders took 25-18.
Ending the match, the Crusaders made their number one ranking known by making the point difference bigger each set, eventually winning the match 25-8
“We did a good job with putting the ball down and with our serve return and serving,” Hefeneider said. “I’m excited for our upcoming game on Friday.”
