This year on Halloween, the North Medford black tornadoes travel all the way up the state to Jesuit High School in a match against the number one ranked crusaders.
Junior Kaitlyn MacLennan made it known to the opponents that the crusaders were not messing around, scoring two goals and assisting the third for a final score of 3-0.
In the first half, the Crusaders were off to a great start scoring all three goals=. The first goal was a header by Riley Jefferies off of MacLennan’s corner.
One of MacLennan’s goals was a header off of a corner taken by Ana Kubiaczyk and the other as assisted by Natalie Weber in the 23rd minute.
It was obvious that the Black Tornadoes had been planning how they were going to approach this match. They played a very tough defense so it was hard for the Crusaders to get past them.
“The back line was playing a very high line,” Maclennan said. “So it was hard to adjust to that but we eventually got the hang of it.”
The tornadoes stopped the scoring in the second half making it a tied half 0-0 with no one scoring.
As Jesuit heads into the quarterfinal round this saturday, they play the West Linn lions which is a rematch of last year’s state championship final.
“I’m really excited to have a rematch of last year’s final this Saturday,” MacLennan said. “It should be a good game.”
