Jesuit’s Women’s swim team have dived into the 2023-2024 season after the women wrapped up the first two meets of the season on January 4th.
This is the first season without Alaina Pitton and Olivia Walton, who both graduated this past year. Despite the departure of these two state recognized swimmers, the resilience of the team continues to shine though, currently undefeated and continuing to set their sights on another state title.
The women started the season off strong on December 14th beating Beaverton 136-33. The women set the tone with a win in the 200 medley relay. Along with achieving new personal records, the women created a supportive atmosphere and challenged each other in the water.
Senior captain Sydney Leslie, when interviewed, expressed her satisfaction with the season and team spirit so far.
“It has been an excellent start to the season… the camaraderie on the pool deck has been a major factor in our success.” She shared
The team support has been crucial this season, especially regarding the departure of many seasoned swimmers.
The incoming talent, especially from the new freshman, has proven to be a valuable asset to the team.
Sydney applauded the freshman stating, “Our incoming freshman athletes have been absolutely crushing it off the bat.”
The freshmen have continued to impress over the past three weeks, solidifying their roles as valuable assets to the team’s success.
As the season continues, the team has just four more meets until the district and state championships.
Looking ahead, sophomore Lisette Soto highlighted the team’s commitment to continuous improvement and hard work.
“We are just going to keep putting in the work,” Soto stated
“Everyone is working really hard at club and high school practices to reach our fullest potential and we’re committed to defending our district and state titles,” she added.
With a mix of valuable senior leadership and strong freshman, the Jesuit Women’s swim team appears prepared for another great season as they continue to work though the remaining meet as and prepare for district and state championships
