In the first quarterfinal match at the Chiles Center, the #8 Jesuit Crusaders took on the #1 Central Catholic Rams in hopes of an upset. The last time the Crusaders were on this stage was 5 years ago, when they brought home the state title. The Crusaders look to get their revenge on the Rams since losing to them earlier in the season 55-51.
The Rams came out firing early going up 9-0 to begin the game. In the first few minutes the Rams could not miss a shot and the Crusaders could not buy a bucket.
Central Catholic senior guard Marley Zeller (Pepperdine) and junior Guard Isaac Carr (Oregon) had an easy run on the Crusaders for the whole first quarter. The Crusaders trailed 15-9 going into the second quarter.
The second half began and hope was beginning for the Crusaders as junior Patrick Kilfoil and freshman Isaac Bongen hit a few big shots for the Crusaders. After hitting those shots, the Crusaders went back to their 1st quarter selves, turnover play after play
Going into halftime the Crusaders trailed 31-20.
Central Catholic continued to dominate both sides of the ball out of the break.
The Paschal brothers (Deuce and Bam) were all over the floor tonight combining for 22 points total.
At the 3rd, the Rams led 42-28
The Rams held the Crusaders to their fewest points since 2013 . The Crusaders shot 27.9 percent from the field. Final from Chiles 59-33.
Kilfoil led the Crusaders with 12 and Carr led the rams with 13.
