Women’s Lacrosse

Season Record- 15-2

Metro League champs

Heading into the Women’s Lacrosse playoffs the Jesuit Crusaders are ranked #2 in the state. The Crusaders face a strong opponent in round facing the #7 West Linn Lions. 

The Crusaders have had a very strong year in the 2024 season , only losing to #1 Lake Oswego and a very strong Mercer Island team from Seattle. Other then these 2 games the Crusaders have outright dominated their competition throughout the year which have earned the Crusaders with #2 seed. 

Looking at the first round match for the Crusaders is a storied rival vs the West Linn lions. The Lions are the #7 seed in the state tournament so should live up to be a good one. Earlier in the season the Crusaders dominated the Lions 18-6 at West Linn. 

Junior Quinny Handley recorded 53 goals and 23 assists in the regular season and Gigi Abernathy 41 goals and 24 assists. Crazy numbers for 2 of the Crusaders  captains this year who have led the way for this young Jesuit roster.

The Crusaders look to get their 4th state championship in a row, it all begins Thursday night taking on the lions. 

“There is a lot of pressure to win another one , but it is good pressure for us. It is fueling us to work hard everyday and our desire to win is like no other” Handley said.

The Crusaders opened up the playoffs hosting West linn and dominating them. Winning the game 18-5 on home turf. Crusaders then went onto go to Oregon City to play Oes in the state semi finals. Not much changed for the Crusaders as they won the game 14-6. The Crusaders have punched their ticket to the state championship.

Men’s Lacrosse

Season record – 14-1 

Metro league champs 

The men’s lacrosse team had an amazing year this year dominating opponents . The Crusaders have continued to dominate in state competition by double digit goals. 

The Crusaders have traveled around the country to play some of the best teams around. 

 

Over spring break the Crusaders took on a high level task traveling down to Texas to play 3 of the 5 top teams in the state. The Crusaders first task was ESD, and the Crusaders took care of business immediately getting a 11-10 win. Next team on schedule was Jesuit Dallas, a very good team. Unfortunately Jesuit Oregon lost 11-9 in a very close game. Final stretch of the trip was a revenge game for the Crusaders playing Woodlands. Woodlands is a team they lost to last year. The Crusaders came out firing winning this game 16-5, rounding the trip out with a 2-1 record.

 

The Crusaders continued to travel and play some good Washington competition. Sweeping the state of Washington in beating teams, Seattle Prep, Odea, and Skyline. The Crusaders beat all these teams by large margins.

 

 

Seniors, Porter Malkiel, Luke Bayne , and  Christian Buck have led the way for Jesuits high powered offense

The Crusaders then finished off the regular season playing League games. The Crusaders swept the Metro League and won another conference title. 

 

 

The Crusaders got ranked #1 in the state earning a bye in round one. First  match for Jesuit will be Tuesday vs the winner of West Salem and Sheldon. The Crusaders look to win 3 state championships in a row.

Baseball

 Record- 19-9 

League record – 12-6

OSAA rank – #4

The Jesuit Crusaders baseball team has had a  year of many ups and downs. The men’s Crusaders have played a hard schedule and arguably playing  in the hardest conference in the state. The Crusaders had a big  win early on in the season beating top ranked West Linn Lions. 

One of the Crusaders top players Kainoa Santiago went down with an injury early on in the year, this was a big loss for the Crusaders but many players stepped up to fill the roles. Senior Preston Miller, was the main player to step up and fill this role. 

The Crusaders placed 3rd in the metro league this year, falling behind Sunset Apollos and Westview Wildcats. The Crusaders dropped all 3 games this year to the Apollos but took the series win vs the wildcats. 

Junior Carter Stewart and Sophomore Jake rolling  have had an amazing year for the Crusaders. Both first year varsity players took on immediate starting roles. Stewart and Rolling both have been top hitters on the team this year. The future for Crusaders are in good hands.  

The Crusaders had a huge last game of the season facing the #2 South Salem Saxons. In a dominating fashion the Crusaders won 6-0 which bumped the Crusaders from #7 to #4 in the state. Stewart led the Crusaders off with a Homerun.

The Crusaders hosted the Sheldon Irish at home on Monday and beating the 10-8 in a nail bitter. The Crusaders were up 10-1 going into the 7th and let up 7 runs. 

The Crusaders will take on Sandy on Wednesday at Sprunk.

Softball

Record- 20-8

Metro League – #2

OSAA rank – #6

The Jesuit Crusaders softball team has had a very strong year. Under coach Speciale the Crusaders have a 20-8 record.  The Crusaders started off the year with a pretty tough schedule traveling down to California and finishing with a 3-2 record. 

Crusaders star player junior Berkleigh Tuck committed to Cal Baptist recently which is a huge deal for the Crusaders. Tuck is a big hitter and an athletic fielder where she can play anywhere. The Crusaders also have senior Mary Cunningham and she is committed to play at University of Missouri Kansas City.

The Crusaders had a huge end to their season which bumped up their ranking in the state. The Crusaders have won their last 10 games in a row, beating strong teams like Sunset and Lakeridge. 

The Metro League this year was very strong this year with 4 teams making the playoffs and Westview earning the number 1 seed in the whole state. The Crusaders worked hard for every win in arguably the top conference in the state.

The Crusaders hosted their first playoff game at home. The Crusaders had a quick game vs Newberg winning 10-0. The #6 Crusaders have moved onto the second around and will host Metro rival on Wednesday.
