After coming off a dominating 2023 season, winning the Metro League and finishing 2nd in State, Men’s XC is eager to begin the 2024 season.
“We have all worked really hard,” junior Kellen Williams stated. “And we do not want to lose like we did last year.”
“We are really confident. We feel like we can win every race that we [start],” Jackson Welsh said.
The Men’s Cross Country team graduated 2 seniors, . Oone of them being Gonzaga University cCommitt, Caden Swanson. He had a large impact on the team, clinching first place for Jesuit at the Ash Creek XC Invitational.
“I think we lost a really good senior, but I think we have a lot of good young guys, so I think we will be pretty good this year,” Williams said.
A new season allows for new runners to gain a larger role on the team. This season there are new key people to lead the Crusaders.
“All seven of our guys are gonna be pretty key because we should all be running close together,” junior Jackson Welsh stated. “But our biggest runner is Matthew Wroblewski, an incoming junior.”
Jesuit’s first challenge will take place on Wednesday, September 11. The Crusaders will be hosting Mountainside and Sunset in their first meet of the season.
From there, Jesuit will have meets on Wednesdays with a couple meets on Saturdays. On Saturday, September 21 Jesuit will compete in the Mook XC Invite at Alderbrook where some of the best runners on the West Coast will compete.
The Jesuit Crusaders have been working hard for the last month to compete to the best of their abilities in the first meet and to continue that throughout the season.
