Coming off a successful season last year winning the OSAA state championship, the Jesuit Varsity Women’s Volleyball team looks to defend their title this season and is confident in their ability to do so.
Senior setter Jackie Carle has high hopes for the team’s goals and how they are going to achieve them.
“We’re feeling really good about the season, the energy is very high,” said Jackie. “We’re definitely looking for a repeat of last year’s success.”
As the Crusaders start off the season undefeated in both non-league and in tournament play, they have some big opponents ahead of them.
“In the Metro league, probably Mountainside and Westview are our biggest competitors,” returning senior hitter Julia Paulson said. “Non-league I would say Nelson and Oregon City who will want to come back to the championship.”
Despite losing three seniors, the team dynamic remains strong, with a competitive spirit. They have been constantly looking to improve and take feedback from their coaches to better their skills.
“Everybody has a big role to play, I think everybody has a very open mindset, is very competitive and willing to take criticism,” Jackie Carle said.
The Crusaders are looking forward to competing against some Metro competition next week as they take on Sunset at home and Westview away.
