Ambassadors create a welcoming environment for incoming freshman and transfer students as they embark on their first few weeks at Jesuit High School.
According to Admissions Director Mrs. DeKlotz, the ambassador program was started to amplify her efforts at welcoming students and to relate more closely to them.
“Ambassadors are worth their weight in gold,” Mrs. DeKlotz said. “To me, they’re the core of our community.”
Sophomore ambassadors go behind the scenes as buddies and create posters to welcome new students, however, junior and senior ambassadors are the face of the school and lead students through orientation and hosting shadow students.
According to ambassador student Davis Marr, being an ambassador is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role and get to know new students.
“The ambassador students have impacted me greatly,” transfer student Carson Rommel stated. “My buddy has been checking up on me, texting me, and asking how my days have been.”
Ambassador buddies are required to reach out to their buddies before school starts and check up on them once a week through the end of September. The new students are encouraged to reach out to their buddies with any questions at any time.
“Something I love about being an ambassador is feeling like I have a place and job in the school other than just being a student,” stated Davis Marr.
