Diligently working behind the scenes, Student Government and ASB President Lucy Robb has lots in store for the Jesuit student body this school year.
One of the biggest responsibilities in Student Government is hosting school events, a staple for every Jesuit student’s experience. From Freshman Fun Night, Women’s Flag football, Jesuit’s Got Talent, and the Student-Faculty basketball game, Student Government is consistently working to create memorable experiences for the students of Jesuit.
“One of my main goals is making sure that the student body is engaged and is able to attend events where they can really have fun and enjoy the Jesuit community to the fullest extent possible,” said ASB President Lucy Robb.
Last year, Student Government organized thirty school events, including Freshman Fun Night, one of the most anticipated events of the year for first-year students. Exclusive to freshman only, the event includes music, lights, and dancing, and has quickly become a fan-favorite event for many in the community.
“I’m always excited for Freshman Fun Night,” Robb said. “That is such a fun event. And I’m not planning it personally. I’m working on some other events, but that’s going to be a really, really, fun one just going into the year.”
In addition to the dance, many freshmen and transfer students will be participating in the New Family Picnic, an annual event hosted by Student Government where new students and their families gather to celebrate the new school year prior to the first Football home game against the Oregon City Pioneers.
“For Transfers [and Freshman], I would, of course, go to the new [Family Picnic],” Robb said. “It’s before the first home football game, which is next Friday, and it’s going to be green and gold themed.”
As for new additions, members of Student Government will be working on an annual project initiative in early 2025 to brainstorm and create new events. In recent years, popular events such as Jesuit’s Got Talent and Sader Shop have stemmed from the initiative.
“I think it’s going to be a really good year,” Robb added. “And I’m really excited to see what everybody will do, including students in the class and then just the students in the Jesuit community.”
