Future Business Leaders of America makes its appearance again this school year. After a 12 year Jesuit hiatus , junior leaders Matigan Baker, Meenu Bhaskar, Paazin Daruwala, and Uma Nair have decided to revamp the club this year.
FBLA’s mission is to help high schoolers learn about the business world and gain experience in business by creating business models, learning presentation skills, and using computer science for business.
FBLA leader, Meenu Bhaskar, shares that she wanted to bring FBLA back to life so her club could bring people together who have the same interests and goals in the future.
“We’re all interested in business, and we want to pursue business in the future. We wanted to make this club to be able to learn more about business ourselves and also find other people who are interested in business pursuing that same goal,” Bhaskar said.
FBLA plans to compete in different competitions based on different aspects of business. Some competitions include presentations and business models made with a group or tests taken on different business aspects. FBLA hopes to join the upcoming tournaments.
“Depending on how well you do, you can either move into regionals, state, or nationals, so we’re hoping to be part of their spring tournament and learn more about business along the way.” Bhaskar said.
In the future FBLA wants to make a positive impact in the Jesuit community, but also wants to make sure that FBLA is here to stay.
“We hope to continue this club even after all of us graduate because this club started 12 years ago, but then it disbanded after everybody graduated,” Bhaskar said. “So now that we are restarting it, we want to make sure that it lasts long term.”
FBLA hopes to form a community that can bring students together who have a passion for business and want to help students gain knowledge in fields like entrepreneurship, marketing and finance. They look forward to participating in different competitions and providing different opportunities for students.
