A fun winter tradition at Jesuit is the Winter Carnival. Full of exciting games, food and snacks, and the chance to hang out with friends, the carnival is the place to be on January 31st after school.
The carnival starts right after school in the Student Union Center and commons at 2:00 and ends around 3:30.
The planning committee is made up of Student Government members Lilly Heydet, Gracie Stalick, Keeli Grim, Lanie Knight, Mimi Thompson, and Ingrid Schmidt. They are all super excited for the event and to see Jesuit have a good time with friends.
“I think students should come to the carnival because school does end early [on Friday], and I think it would be a good opportunity to take the time you would usually be in your seventh period to come and have fun with your friends,” sophomore Gracie Stalick said.
The Winter Carnival is a big event with lots of exciting activities to engage in.
“There’s lots of fun activities. You’ll be able to participate in an obstacle course. There’s also going to be a henna artist, and you can get little designs of your choice. And then there’s going to be a cake walk, and Nothing Bundt Cakes are [the prizes]. There is a balloon man, and you can get balloons,” junior Keeli Grim said.
Alongside those activities, there will be bingo in the commons with gift cards as the prizes. There will also be a cotton candy machine, for those wanting a snack after school.
The planning committee is excited for the carnival and how it’s been improving and expanding over the years, becoming a bigger event with more games and activities.
The carnival has something for everyone to enjoy.
“Everybody’s gonna have their eye caught on different things. Personally, I think the food will be most exciting for the upperclassmen, but for freshmen, the games are always really fun. And we do have the new hit: the obstacle course, so that will draw people in. Also the henna, a lot of people will be intrigued by that. And the cakewalk is always a hit for those who love cake,” junior Lanie Knight said.
The Winter Carnival is free of charge, and starts after school on Friday.
“[Everyone] is encouraged to come and have fun for any amount of time,” senior Ingrid Schmidt said
