The last few months are closing in on the 2025 seniors and with every passing day, the reality of the school year ending sinks in.
Graduation is only under 50 days away and for some seniors like Ryan Fraser, that’s hard to believe.
“The year’s gone by so fast,” Fraser said. “I can’t believe graduation is so close.”
Past exciting moments like Encounters and dances have now become nostalgic memories. The Jesuit community and the people met along the way will be missed the most.
“I will miss all the amazing people that I’m surrounded with everyday and that make days much easier,” Sam Nordean said. “I’m really excited to move on to the next chapter of my life but I’m also gonna cherish all the memories I’ve made in my time here.”
For these seniors, their favorite moments at Jesuit will be held onto and thought of when reflecting on what they loved most such as sports events.
“My favorite memory in high school was definitely winning state my senior year. Coming in as sort of the underdogs, we came as a family and fought our way through every game. My teammates have greatly impacted my soccer career and I’ll always remember and cherish them forever,” Diego Nieves said.
For some, their favorite moments involved the Encounters and the many retreats that Jesuit has to offer.
“Leading FMCE was my favorite memory because I felt like I got to pass on everything that I got to experience to the juniors and it was really exciting to be able to make an impact and become a part of the Jesuit culture,” Maggie Stephens said.
The last four years have been full of many ups and downs: fun classes with lots of laughter to hard tests and projects that were stressful. Reminiscing on the past senior year, there have been many opportunities for new experiences.
“The senior pilgrimage was by far the best this year. It was just very memorable and fun, and I feel like one of the last times where everybody’s kind of together and like close knit, which is one of the things I’m going to miss about high school in comparison to college,” Ingrid Schmidt said.
There were sports events that created unmatched support and excitement, pulling the senior class together during their last year.
“Making it to the Chiles Center for basketball was my favorite memory. We had been working so hard to get there and it was such a surreal atmosphere playing in front of all those fans. It’s hard to describe but that was the epitome of high school basketball,” Fraser said.
The feeling of what comes next is one many seniors can relate to. As new things like college and moving out come up, feelings of excitement arise as they look forward to what’s coming.
“It’s definitely a bittersweet feeling. I’m definitely super excited to graduate and move on to the next thing, but then I’m also gonna miss everybody here, and I’m the most nervous about moving out, and not having my mom whenever I need her and things like that,” Schmidt said.
The regular everyday schedule has become a comfort for some seniors but that won’t last forever and that reality is setting in.
“I feel excited for new experiences and I love the people here but I’m nervous for the change in routine and not having this be my norm anymore,” Hayden McGehee said.
For others, they are reading for this new chapter of life and want the change in the normal routine.
“I feel more excited about leaving high school because I think I’ve been ready to move on to something new and experience a different path of life,” Tallulah Sprague said.
Some things will continue to be remembered as senior students reflect on how Jesuit faculty and staff have helped them grow academically and spiritually.
“The interactions with people around Jesuit such as my friends and teachers is something I’m gonna really miss. I’m so grateful for my time here and it’s definitely gonna be hard leaving,” Fraser said.
As the final months wrap up for the 2025 seniors at Jesuit, the love, memories, and friendships made will continue to be cherished and valued.
“I’m ecstatic about the four years I’ve had at Jesuit and the people that I’ve met and the relationships that I’ve built. I’m super excited for college next year and starting a new journey, but I’ll always look back at Jesuit as a special time in my life,” Jack Harrington said.
