Jesuit’s strong regular season has led them to another playoff berth as the #4 ranked team faced off against Lincoln in the first round winning 9-0.
“I feel good about our performance during the regular season. We have shown that when we play our game there isn’t a team that can beat us. We just need to play our game”, Riley Teed ‘26 said.
Jesuit had a regular season record of 21-6 leading them to be metro league champions. Head coach Colin Griffin ’00, thinks that the success has come from the ability for the team to help others be ready for their at bats.
Communication in the dugout has been key to the success of the team.
“This team is hungry for education in the game of baseball. I say that because you just hear our players all the time they come back to the dugout and are talking like, what’s this fastball doing?
Griffin also pointed out how the development of the players has also been a key factor in the success of this year.
“The kids are just hungry to learn more about this game that could be so simple. They do play in a very simple way, but they are prepared every time they’re going up to bat or they’re in the field or on the mound,” Griffin said.
During the regular season, teams play each other in 3 game series, while in playoffs it is a one game playoff match to determine who can move onto the next round.
“Everyone can beat everyone. You play during the regular season, you play a three game series, and then when playoffs start, it’s one and done”.
Johnny Ingalls ’25 comments how he feels about the teams chances of doing well in the playoffs.
“I feel great about our team’s performance during the regular season. Winning the Metro League and having the lowest allowed runs in the state is a huge accomplishment, and with our hitters starting to get hot at the right time, I’m confident about our chances heading into the playoffs,” he said.
Jesuit looks to continue their playoff run against Sandy on May 28th.
