Before the big home opening game on Friday September 5th, new students, transfers, and families all joined together in Hayes Plaza for the New Family and Student picnic.
Student government organized the night, turning the Jesuit into a place of fun music and lively yard games. The barbecue was also a great place to meet new people.
“I was able to actually meet my classmates that I only see during the passing period,” said freshman Campbell Klock.
To fuel up before the big game, student government bought Chipotle, Togos, and mini tacos.
Student government also set up a face painting area where students could get some festive green and gold face paint to show some spirit before the big game. Additionally, they also had a raffle for some fun Jesuit swag.
“My favorite part was getting my face painted and hanging out with my friends,” said freshman Takeo Stevenson.
As the night went on the cheerleaders taught the freshman some new cheers for the game. The spirit directors also came out and got everybody excited for the home opener.
Then the march up to Cronin Field started. The spirit directors led the group, and the band and cheerleaders followed behind.
