With the new school year, Jesuit welcomes Mr. Pete Perez as the newest member of the campus safety team.
Having worked previously in the Hillsboro School District as a campus safety monitor at a middle school, Perez brings years of experience and developed skills to his new campus safety role. Prior to Hillsboro, he also served in the Marine Corps and in law enforcement.
Mrs. Kent, the campus safety director, had a lot of praise for Mr. Perez’s prior experience.
“He had that experience of working with students, of knowing the difference between enforcing the law out on a street and maintaining safety within this community, which is quite a bit different.”
Mr. Perez is excited to join the Jesuit community.
“I was excited because these kinds of positions rarely come open,” said Mr. Perez on why he was keen on taking the job at Jesuit. He also referenced how the job “reflects [his] personal morals.”
Mr. Abraham Martinez, another campus monitor, referenced how Mr. Perez is a “great workmate” and how Mr. Perez is “always [making] himself available to do that little bit, his responsibility or not.”
Mr Martinez also stated, “Being able to be full staff” on how his role changed with the addition of Mr. Perez. He also detailed how the team is now able to have “three monitors in booths and another just roaming around.”
Mr. Perez’s addition to the campus safety team adds a lot of flexibility to the efforts of the monitors.
So what’s he excited for?
“The students. I love connecting with you guys,” said Mr. Perez.
