The men’s soccer team has drawn many important results in the past couple weeks, including new-comer junior Jet Perry as a major standout in these games.
Only having been on the team for a couple months, he is already making a significant impact on the team.
“I didn’t think I was going to be scoring this much," Perry said.
Jet leads the team in scoring with 6 goals this year.
“We have had some struggles trying to score and he's really stepped up into that role and is able to score pretty easily, so it's been great to see that,” senior captain Fox Mason said.
A few weeks ago, the Crusaders faced off against Lincoln in a cross-town rivalry game with the Cardinals coming in with a 3-0 record. After a very physical game, the team pulled off a 2-0 win with both goals coming from Jet Perry.
Later that week, they headed to Milwaukie to play La Salle Prep, a tough battle between the reigning 5A champions and the reigning 6A champions. Tied at 2-2 with 40 seconds left in the match, Jet Perry scored the game winning goal, his second of the game, to lead the team to a 3-2 victory.
“Without his timely goals this season, the team would be at a different confidence level,” head coach Geoff Skipper said.
Coach Skipper explained Jet as someone who can change the game by creating goal-scoring opportunities and leading by example.
“We have a lot of injuries right now, so people need to step up, and I guess I’m just trying to do my part,” Jet said.
He looks to improve on his one v. one technical ability for the rest of the season.
With playoffs coming up in the near future, Jet is excited to play in a must-win game environment, as well as continue to create a positive impact on the team.
