Jesuit heads into their third Metro League game against Westview on Monday, October 13th.
To start the season, they’re 3-3-4, having a tough preseason. In season, they’ve struggled to get started, tying their first Metro League game against Mountainside 3-3.
Mr. Geoff Skipper, the coach of the defending state champions, is hopeful that the team can turn the season around.
“We have been bitten by the injury bug, and establishing a rhythm has been difficult. Hopefully as players return, we can get a good rhythm going during Metro League,” he said.
Although they may be struggling a bit, they still have a very solid team full of players who have stepped up and shown their worth.
“Fox Mason has had a great season in goal. We knew he would be good going into the season, but he has found another level. Junior Jet Perry is currently our leading scorer,” Skipper said.
Senior Akash Ragam looks to the leadership of Fox Mason to keep him going throughout the season.
“The player that motivates me the most to keep going is Fox. He’s a four year varsity star, and a great captain. He’s real leadership material,” he said.
The game against Westview is an important matchup for the Crusaders, having implications on winning Metro.
“Metro League is up for grabs this year between three or four teams. Westview is definitely one of those teams. The game could be a deciding factor in the League Championship,” Skipper said.
