After dominating the Westview Wildcats, the Jesuit Crusaders are looking for another victory over the Beaverton Beavers this Friday in their Metro Cronin opener.
With many years of domination, the Beavers are looking to get revenge on the crusaders.
Beaverton has always been a natural rival for the Crusaders because of the proximity of the schools to each other, only being 2 miles down the road from each other.
A recent example of the domination is in 2016 when the Crusaders finished the regular season with a 70-0 win over the Beavers.
“We all know this game matters more than others. We have a history with Beaverton and you can tell when you watch a practice. We’ve been practicing harder making sure we are at our best this week. We know if we practice correctly that we have the talent to have a really fun game.” Said senior Drew Layfield.
However, this year, the Beaverton Beavers are ranked higher than the Crusaders, with OSAA.org ranking the Beavers 12th in Oregon and the Crusaders 16th as of October 8 2025.
The Beavers are 4-1 while the Crusaders are 3-2 heading into the week 6 matchup.
Although the Beavers hold a slightly better record, they haven’t yet faced a strong competitor, with wins over #39 ranked Franklin, #32 ranked Southridge, and two 5A teams, Aloha and Central.
On the other hand, the Crusaders have only lost to two of the highest ranked teams in the state, including the #4 ranked Central Catholic and #6 ranked Taulatin Timberwolves, in which they only lost by 6 points.
Despite the rankings, the Crusaders look to prove themselves as the #1 ranked team in the Metro League.
Senior Nathan Bui said, “Coach Potter always preaches that the most important game is the current week’s game. We don’t worry about the other teams we play in the future; we take each game one step at a time. We started off Metro strong with a dominant win over Westview, and we plan to continue this with Beaverton. Our approach to playing under Friday nights lights hasn’t changed at all, and we don’t plan to. No matter who we play, we will play with 100% intensity and focus to achieve the dub.”
With a long history of rivalry, the Jesuit Crusaders are determined to defend Cronin Field and prove themselves as a Metro league powerhouse.
