The #1 Jesuit Crusader Women’s Soccer team secured their spot in the 6A State Championship after defeating the #4 Beaverton Beavers 5-2 in the semifinals on November 11th on Cronin field.
Heading into the match, both teams were among the strongest in the Metro League, with Jesuit coming off an undefeated regular season that included a draw against Grant, and Beaverton determined to upset the defending champions.
The Crusaders wasted no time getting on the board. Senior captain Ana Kubiaczyk opened the scoring just 15 minutes into the first half, giving Jesuit an early burst of momentum. Not long after, Vega Arancibia doubled the lead with a composed finish, putting the Crusaders up 2-0.
Beaverton, however, refused to go down quietly. The Beavers cut the deficit in half with a goal from Lucy Hays, momentarily shifting the energy on the field. But Jesuit quickly answered back. Within five minutes, Natalie Webber found the back of the net to restore the two-goal lead. The Beavers’ Olivia Hays converted a penalty kick after Jesuit was called for a handball in the box, cutting the Crusaders’ lead once again.
Webber didn’t stop there—she added two more goals to complete a dominant hat trick, cementing Jesuit’s 5-2 victory and continuing their undefeated postseason run.
”We’ve been working on finishing strong all season,” Kubiaczyk said. “It felt amazing to see everything come together tonight.”
With the semifinal win, Jesuit now turns its attention to the state championship, where they’ll look to defend their title and continue their streak of dominance in Oregon 6A soccer.
“We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but the job’s not finished yet,” senior captain Jo Frischknecht said. “We’re ready to give it everything in the final.”
