Alaina Pitton, Staff Writer
Alaina Pitton is a senior at Jesuit High school and a captain of the Jesuit Swim team. Alaina has always loved both reading and telling stories. Raised in a family of readers and writers, her home was always inundated with the constant sound of a podcast or the news, and filled with books. She grew up listening to the crime stories brought home from work by her father, a now retired Detective Sergeant, and was always fascinated with the role storytelling and reporting play in helping to administer justice. Most of all, Alaina loves the way writing and media can challenge previously held beliefs and authorities. She loves to write about the current issues facing teenagers in and outside of the classroom, athletics and life as a student athlete, as well as stories and issues that impact our community and our world. Outside of school, Alaina enjoys swimming and working out, reading and listening to music, and spending time with her friends and family. She plans to major in communications and media studies next year at Niagara University, where she is committed to swim at the Division 1 level.
