Men’s Varsity Soccer Playoff Preview
As playoffs approach, Men’s Soccer looks to make a determined run in hopes of a state championship trophy.
Jesuit has been on fire all season, currently with an overall record of 9-1-4. Their only loss came against a strong Lincoln team, who are ranked #3 in OSAA. You can find a recap of that game here.
The Crusaders’ best performance came against West Linn early in the season. It was an absolute trashing, with Jesuit winning 7-0.
A lot of their success has stemmed from senior striker Drew Pedersen. Throughout the season, he has scored countless crucial goals that have propelled Jesuit to wins.
The Crusaders also maintained a solid defense. Richard Anderson, Griffin Scott, and Kogen Albertini have held it down in the back, with the team only conceding fifteen goals in fourteen games.
Jesuit also performed well in the Metro League, sharing the title with Aloha. They had a 4-0-2 record in Metro, going undefeated. The team finished off their regular season against Beaverton, winning 3-1.
Expectations are high for the Men’s team for this upcoming playoffs. Jesuit will play all of their games at home as they are currently ranked #1 in OSAA. The Crusaders look to go farther than last season, where they lost in the semi-finals to West Linn.
Their first playoff game will be against #32 ranked West Salem this Saturday. The winner of this game will play #17 ranked South Salem or #16 ranked Ida B. Wells. The Crusaders hope to come out with a dominating performance and make a deep postseason run.
