RECAP: Women’s Soccer finished the game against Tualatin in one half with a mercy rule.
On Thursday night, the 14th of September, Jesuit went out to Tualatin High School and mercy ruled in the first 35 minutes of the game.
Jesuit’s sophomore Marian Dunne scored on an assist by captain Abby Cox 8 minutes into the game, increasing anticipation.
With 19 minutes remaining in the first half, freshman Natalie Webber hit a volley and put the Crusaders in a 2-0 lead.
Only two minutes later, Cox slipped a ball into junior forward Claudia Rose for a third goal.
“I’m really excited with how the team is playing and felt like we all worked together and for each other tonight,” Rose said after the game.
Riley Weaks crossed to Abby Cox in the 27th minute to move the score to Jesuit 4, Tualatin 0. Hanna Slama hit a shot from 20 yards away and scored in the 29th minute.
Tualatin captain Ava Elizarraraz shot right over the bar in the 31st minute but senior Claire Lindsey kept a shutout for Jesuit.
Center back captain Sophia Stiles headed the back to Claudia Rose who headed the ball into the back of the net for a 6-0 lead in 31st minute
Only a couple minutes later Maeve Thomas finished the ball off of a perfect corner to put the crusaders up by 7.
Natalie Webber ended the game in the 35th minute of the first half to send the crusaders home.
“I’m proud of the team’s performance tonight and how much we’ve already grown this season,” Abby Cox said after the match.

Kaitlyn MacLennan is a competitive and hardworking senior at Jesuit High School excited about furthering her contributions in advanced media production. This will be Kaitlyn’s third year as part of the media team and she looks forward to taking a bigger leadership role this year. Over the last two years Kaitlyn learned and grew her videography skills as well as her editing. She excelled in Special Projects last year and hopes to continue producing even more newsworthy projects that show a higher skill level. Some of the main projects Kaitlyn partook in were Mic’d Up videos, 30 Years of Co-Education, sports recaps, and many other special projects.
Growing up in the Bay Area in California, Kaitlyn saw different types of media design and it really drew her eye. She is hoping to bring a positive and fun voice to her work and hoping it showcases Jesuit Media in the best way. Her hopes from this class is to further her learning in journalism to see if there is an interest in continuing throughout college. In addition to media production, Kaitlyn enjoys soccer, skiing, baking, hanging out with friends, and playing other sports. Most of the time if you don’t see Kaitlyn working on the back side of the cameras she will be on the field playing for the varsity soccer team for Jesuit. Because of Kaitlyn’s big love for sports, she is highly interested in sports videos.
