A big 6th inning by the Jesuit Crusaders helped lock in their 8-4 win over the Westview Wildcats.
The Crusaders faced the Wildcats at Sprunk Stadium in game 2 of a 3 game Metro League series.
The Wildcats won the first battle of this 3 game series, 5-2 at their home field.
“We wanted to bounce back from a tough loss on Tuesday, we still have 2 more games to win the series,” third baseman Dylan Ruchaber said.
The Wildcats came out with the same energy from the previous 1st inning. Off the very first pitch of the game, infielder Gunnar Pedersen hit a double.
Wildcat pitcher Cole Katayama-Stall then hit a 2 run home run followed by another run driven home by Joel Hong to give the wildcats an early 3-0 lead.
The Crusaders responded in the bottom of the 1st inning with a run driven home by Carter Stewart.
The Crusaders continued to narrow their deficit in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a home run by Jacob Bishop.
The Wildcats then responded in the top of the 4th inning with a home run by first baseman Maxwell Stuart to make the lead 4-2.
Then in the bottom of the 4th the crusaders tied the game up with RBI doubles from Hudson Rommel and then Preston Miller.
Jesuit Pitcher Mickey McClaskey kept the Wildcats quiet for the rest of the game.
The Crusaders took lead 5-4 in the bottom of the 5th inning with Max Verla scoring off a wild pitch.
The Crusaders continued to build their lead in the bottom of the 6th inning. With 2 outs catcher Brode Lyman hit an RBI double to stretch the lead 6-4.
“I wanted to give our pitcher a comfortable outing with a few run lead to secure the win,” Lyman said.
The Crusaders further extended their lead with an RBI single by Dillion Garg, followed by an RBI double by Ruben Landros to take the lead to 8-4.
Jesuit wraps up the 3 game series at Westview.
