Grandparents’ and special friend’s day has been a tradition for 40+ years at Jesuit High School.
It’s a special event that welcomes grandparents and close friends to get a glimpse into their loved one’s high school experience at Jesuit. It gives students a great opportunity to share with their companions what they take part in during the day and appreciate about Jesuit High School.
“I would say having breakfast with your grandparents or special friends is definitely the most memorable part of the day,” said Michelle Eichten, director of Grandparents and Special Friends Day.
This event emphasizes the importance of spending quality time with your family since it allows the community to get together, since everyone goes to mass in the morning. This day gives grandparents and special friends an opportunity to spend time and interact with their loved ones.
“My favorite part of the day is going to mass with my grandchildren and getting to connect with all the other grandparents,” said Julie Zervis, grandmother to Emery and Sloan Hefeneider, as well as Nick Zervis.
Grandparents’ Day focuses on honoring and recognizing their love, wisdom, and grace that’s passed on down to their grandchildren. It gives the students an opportunity to learn from their grandparents.
As most high schools don’t offer a special day like this directed towards grandparents and loved ones Anamaria Hefeneider offered a good point.
“I love how Jesuit High School offers this event, because it gives our grandchildren guidance that we encourage them to follow so we can teach them the value of family.”
Because of this day every year, students become more and more aware of the strength and support their relatives can provide.
