Junior, Pavley Kamel, is stepping up as ASB President for the 2026-2027 school year.
A part of Student Government since his sophomore year, and acting as Junior Class President for this current school year, he is no stranger to the program and running for ASB President seemed like a no-brainer.
“I’ve always had a passion for leading, taking on a voice for others, and helping to bring change,” said Kamel. “I think that I could do a lot for the community and be a voice for students who would otherwise go unheard.”
His love for the people of Jesuit High School, what he considers his second home, pushed him to campaign for this role where he plans to bring in some major reforms, starting with what all students know and love, lunch.
“For starters, more utensils on Monday, quicker and more efficient lunch lines, and maybe even menu updates,” said Kamel. The new President agrees with many students that these small fixes could make lunches better.
Another major part of his campaign was to try and foster a better school spirit. Adding class competitions and incentivizing events, so that students have a reason to want to show up. Eventually, Kamel hopes that by doing this students will start to go to events out of their own volition, bringing school spirit to the max.
One big idea he had was to move the Spring Dance to the Winter Carnival.
“Spring is a busy season, and I think we lose a lot of participation during that event because of the time it happens,” said Kamel.
After being cancelled due to lack of sign ups last year, a rise in attendance to the Spring Dance would be big for the new President’s goal of increasing school spirit and participation in events.
On top of his campaign goals that resonated with Jesuit Students, Pavely said he owes a lot to why he was elected from his social media platform. He posted his resume on Instagram, as well as short clips of other students advocating for his presidency, where Jesuit students would actually see it.
“I think just showing that there’s a campaign behind you, almost like a democracy, gives more incentive to vote for someone,” said Kamel. “If you see that others appreciate what you do, then more people will look at what you stand for, and hopefully form their own opinions. And I think social media does that beautifully.
Alongside Pavley, 4 others were elected to represent the ASB cabinet. Juniors Gianna Ayoub, Jaiya Patel, Gracie Stalick, and Ella Vizireanu.
Above everything, Pavley Kamel is ready for what’s to come.
“I’m incredibly excited. 2027 is going to be an outstanding year at Jesuit High School.”
