Jesuit defeated Sherwood on Cronin Field with a 6-0 win. Abby Cox scored 3 goals in the victory.

Jesuit Women’s Soccer, ranked number 2 nationally, earned a huge victory against Sherwood on September 18th one of their last games before the start of the Metro League.

From the start, Jesuit set the tone when junior forward Claudia Rose scored a beautiful goal from inside the box at 2 minutes in.

Sherwood had a couple chances to get back into the game, but Jesuit did not hold back.

With 18 minutes left in the first half, Abby Cox strutted her way down the field with no hesitation, leading to her first of three goals.

Just 1 minute later, another goal by Cox right into the back of the net, assisted by sophomore Marian Dunne.

It was senior captain Abby Cox who really sealed the game for Jesuit, with three goals, a hat trick. Cox worked endlessly to try and lead her team to victory.

Dunne was a key asset and had a great performance setting up different opportunities for her teammates, with two assists to Abby Cox and Hanna Slama. As well as a goal of her own in the second half.

“I think there’s always pressure with every game we play because it’s a game and we have to work for it, nothing comes easy,” Dunne said.

Jesuit ended the first half with a comfortable lead.

Jesuit’s defense was a huge contributor to their 6-0 win. Junior Sophia Stiles and freshman Lucy Thomas worked together to keep the ball away from the goal.

The game ended as an 6-0 win for Jesuit. Ranked 1st in the OSAA, the Crusaders begin Metro League play soon.
