On Wednesday May 27th the stage is set for the Oregon Baseball playoffs at Home.
The #4 ranked Jesuit Baseball team is set to face the #13 ranked Sherwood Bowmen in a huge second round matchup in the OSSA 6A Baseball Playoffs at Sprunk Field.
Jesuit enters the game with a cord of 22-6 overall and a strong 15-3 record securing them as Metro League champions. They are coming into this game with momentum after a win over Nelson in the first round beating them 5-0.
While Jesuit has had an impressive season, the Crusaders are battling with injuries, such as two key contributors in Henry Vanderhoff and Griffin Nichols who has been out all season. These injuries forces the Crusaders to rely on their depth along with Gonzaga commit Jake Rolling, LMU commit Kyle Goodwin, and sophomore Ethan Peng.
Senior Griffin Nichols speaks on what the team needs to do on Wednesday stating,
“We need to string hits together offensively, stay disciplined at the plate, and play good defense behind Peng”.
This mindset will be important on Wednesday especially with injuries. The Crusaders will need to play clean Baseball and execute on both offense and defense.
An intense playoff atmosphere is expected at Sprunk field in a win or go home matchup. The Crusaders are looking for a big win to move on to the quarterfinals and keep their season alive.
