Week of October 5th-11th
On Thursday October 10th, the Jesuit volleyball team faced Sunset. The Saders pushed through a hard set and battled to win the first with a score of 27-25. They continued to win the next two sets with scores of 25-19 and 25-4.
For stats of this game, Zola Zuccolo hit .364% with 4 kills and 11 attempts. Julia Paulson filled in for Sadie Ross and hit an impressive .333% with 8 kills and 21 attempts. Lastly, Jada Johnson hit .310% with 14 kills and 29 attempts. The hitters did a great job at moving the ball around and tricking the defense with smart shots.
As for passers, Addy Azavedo passed a 2.40 and Julia Paulson passed a 2.38. Both passers gave opportunities for their setters and hitters and have been an impressive force in the back row. Kiana Johnson and Jada Johnson both passed a 2.00 and were steady throughout the night. The back row did a tremendous job and continues to be a force. Azavedo finished the night with 11 digs.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 17 assists with 44 attempts and Jackie Carole had 14 assists with 34 attempts. The setters continue to lead on the court and create many opportunities for their hitters.
The Saders got 12 aces and 8 blocks by the end of the night. Julia Paulson led serving, each having 4 aces. Alex Douglous ended with 3 blocks and continues to be a weapon at the net.
The Saders will face Westview on Tuesday at 6:45pm at Jesuit.

On Tuesday October 8th, the Jesuit volleyball team matched up against Mountainside. The Saders were away at Mountainside and were ready for a competitive match. The first set was close with Jesuit winning 25-22 and then went on to sweep the Mavericks with scores of 25-10 and 25-17.
For stats of this game, Sadie Ross hit .375% with 11 kills and 24 attempts. She has been a strong force for the Saders this season and when she gets going, her opponent stands no chance. Iman Foster had 7 kills with 19 attempts and hit smart shots to further the gap between Jesuit and Mountainside.
As for passers, Addy Azavedo passed a 2.33 and Julia Paulson passed a 2.14. The back row on Tuesday allowed the setters multiple opportunities for setting location and remained calm when things got tight. It has been fun to see the perseverance the Sader’s back row has as they fight for every ball. Azavedo had 10 digs and Kiana Johnson came second with 7 digs.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 15 assists with 29 attempts and Jackie Carole had 7 assists with 15 attempts. The setters continue to lead on the court and create opportunities for their hitters. They are strong forces for the Saders.
The Saders got 11 aces and 13 blocks by the end of the night. Hayden Mcgehee and Addy Azavedo led serving, each having 4 aces. Alex Douglous ended with 4 blocks and continues to be a weapon at the net.
The Saders will face Sunset on Thursday at 6:45pm at Sunset HIgh school.
Week of September 28th-October 4th
On Tuesday October 1st, the Jesuit volleyball team played against Aloha. The Saders swept the Warriors with scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-7.
For stats of this game, Sadie Ross had another amazing night, hitting .476% with 12 kills and 21 attempts. Ross has been solid for the past few games and last night was no different. Iman Foster came next hitting .357% with 8 kills and 14 attempts. Foster ripped balls into the deep corner which became hard for Aloha to defend.
As for passers, Addy Azavedo passed a 2.29 and Kiana Johnson passed a 2.14. The back row was a steady force on Tuesday and couldn’t be stopped. Azavedo also led with 8 digs throughout the night and continues to be a calm presence in the back row.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 11 assists with 17 attempts and Jackie Carole had 11 assists with 23 attempts. The setters gave their hitters many opportunities and allowed them to score many points.
The Saders got 18 aces by the end of the night which is the most the volleyball team has had this season.
Jesuit will head to Arizona over the weekend to face competition from around the nation.
Week of September 21-27th
On Thursday September 26th, the Jesuit volleyball team was matched up against Southridge. The Saders swept Southridge with scores of 25-9, 25-11, 25-5.
For stats of this game, the hitters all around had an outstanding game. Jada Johnson hit an astounding .750% with 9 kills and 12 attempts. She made no hitting errors the whole game. Sadie Ross hit .476% with 13 kills and 21 attempts. The outsides got it done and were reliable the whole night. As for middles, Alex Douglas hit .462% with 8 kills and 13 attempts. She has proved to be a weapon in the middle and was unstoppable against Southridge.
As for passers, Kiana Johnson passed a 2.50 and stayed steady throughout all 3 sets. She has been a calm force for the Sader’s back row. There weren’t too many chances for digs but Addy Azavedo had 8 digs and Kiana Johnson came next with 4 digs.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 12 assists with 27 attempts and Jackie Carole had 17 assists with 24 attempts. Both setters have been doing a great job at moving the ball around and tricking the blockers across the net.
The Saders got 15 aces by the end of the night and finished with 12 blocks. Julia Paulson finished with 4 aces and Alex Douglas got 4 of those 12 blocks.
Jesuit will face Aloha on Tuesday at 6:45pm and they are currently 12-0.

On Tuesday September 24th, the Jesuit volleyball team faced Beaverton. The Saders dropped their first set of the season on Tuesday. Beaverton saw open spots and executed on them. The final score turned out to be 18-25, 25-8, 25-8, and 25-10. The Saders finished strong after losing the first set and didn’t let their opponent get past 10 points.
For stats of this game, Sadie Ross was outstanding. She hit .467% and attempted 30 times with 17 kills. She was a force to be reckoned with and stayed swinging. Ross didn’t just rip every ball, she also threw some off speed swings that fooled the Beaver defense. She couldn’t be stopped on Tuesday. Iman Foster and Jada Johnson both had 11 kills and hit deep corners that were hard for the Beavers to return.
As for passers, senior, Julia Paulson, had a serve receive rating of 2.67. Junior, Sadie Ross, came second with a rating of 2.40. The back row was a weapon and remained calm the whole night. There was rarely a time they were aced. Seniors, Hayden Mcgehee got 13 digs and Addy Azavedo got 10 digs. The back row has been a solid force for the saders.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 48 attempts with 26 assists and Jackie Carle had 30 attempts with 12 assists. Mcgehee and Carle constantly create opportunities for their hitters and never fail to make their hitters look good.
The Saders got 8 aces by the end of the night and finished with 16 blocks. Beaverton had a struggle getting the ball over the net with the blocking wall in front of them. Alex Douglas got 5 of those blocks and helped turn it on for the Saders.
Jesuit will face Southridge on Thursday at 6:45pm and they are currently 11-0.
Week of September 13-20th
On Wednesday September 18th, the Jesuit volleyball team faced Westview. The Saders versus the Wildcats have always been a fun match to watch and Wednesday was no different. The Wildcats came out swinging and started early but Jesuit stayed calm and swept Westview with scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-13.
For stats of this game, the outsides, Jada Johnson and Sadie Ross were reliable forces. A junior, Ross had a hitting percentage of .154% with 9 kills and 26 attempts. She was finding every way to get the ball down and had smart shots that fooled the Westview defense. Another junior, Jada Johnson, hit .292% attempting 24 times and finishing with 9 kills. Johnson was ready for every ball set to her and fired heavily at the deep corner which got the Wildcats out of system.
Senior Julia Paulson, who is usually a defensive specialist, stepped in for Iman Foster on the right side on Wednesday. She racked up 6 kills and hit some impressive line shots, proving that backrow passers can hit too.
As for passers, senior, Addy Azavedo, led the team with 9 digs and senior, Jackie Carle, came second with 8 digs. These seniors have done a great job at leading their team and continue to be players that hitters avoid.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 32 attempts with 9 assists and Jackie Carle had 20 attempts with 10 assists. Mcgehee and Carle switched the ball around constantly and tried to give sets that allowed their hitters to swing freely.
The crusaders started off a little slow on Wednesday but continued to stay locked in through all three sets. Azavedo led the team with 6 aces and the front row got up to 7 blocks, junior Hope Hansen got 3 of those 7 blocks.
The Saders will face Beaverton on Tuesday at 6:45pm away at Beaverton.

On Monday September 16th, the Jesuit volleyball team was matched up against Sunset at home. The team is currently 8-0 after securing a victory last week against Mountainside. The saders have been a threat and swept the apollos with scores of 25-9, 25-21, and 25-15.
For stats of this game, the best hitter last night seemed to be junior, Iman Foster, with a hitting percentage of .416% and had 7 kills with 12 attempts. Foster lit up the front row, ripping the ball down the line with ease. She was a reliable hitter that showed dominance with every swing. Another junior, Sadie Ross, came next hitting .300% attempting 20 times and accumulating 9 kills. Ross was strong the whole night and had a lethal cross court swing that forced the apollos out of system a majority of the time.
As for passers, senior, Addy Azavedo, continued to have strong serve receive, passing with a rating of 2.29 and freshman, Cecily O’Sullivan, came in to pass with a rating of 2.00, the highest rating one can get is 3.00. O’Sullivan is a strong force in the back row and had a calm presence which held strong in the third set. Although the back row did not have too many opportunities for digs, Azavedo racked up 9 digs and junior, Kiana Johnson, had 4 digs.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 20 attempts with 18 assists and Jackie Carle had 15 attempts with 14 assists. Mcgehee and Carle continue to boost opportunities for their hitters and have stayed consistent with every match.
The crusaders started off strong on Monday and continued to dominate through all three sets. Kiana led the team with 4 aces and the front row got up to 5 blocks.
Overall, the saders excelled in hitting and setting against Sunset. So far it has been a good start to the metro league and they face Westview on Wednesday.
Week of September 1-12th
On Thursday September 12th, the Jesuit volleyball team faced their first metro league game at home. The team is currently 7-0 after securing victories from the past 2 weeks. Winning with a dominant 25-23, 25-16, and 25-6, the crusaders won with a sweep against Mountainside.
As for stats of this game, the best hitter last night seemed to be junior, Zola Zuccolo, with a hitting percentage of .571% and had 4 kills with 7 attempts. Zuccolo was able to be quick and versatile with her hitting location and was a reliable hitter throughout the night. A sophmore, Alex Douglas, came next hitting .429% attempting 14 times and accumulating 8 kills. Douglas soared through the air being able to adjust to sets and got the ball down every chance she got.
As for passers, senior, Addy Azavedo, had the strongest serve receive passing with a rating of 2.50 and senior, Julia Paulson, trailed closely with a rating of 2.17, the highest rating one can get is 3.00. Both stayed calm with their platform and controlled the ball to their setters almost every time. Azavedo led the back row with 12 digs and junior, Kiana Johnson, had 8 digs and was a weapon in the back row for the saders.
Transitioning to setting, senior setters, Hayden Mcgehee had 33 attempts with 14 assists and Jackie Carle had 23 attempts with 11 assists.
The crusaders started off slow in the first set and overall missed 8 serves throughout the match but Paulson turned it on with 4 aces. This allowed the volleyball team to create a large gap in the points between Mountainside.
Overall, the saders excelled in passing and hitting on Thursday and worked hard for every point. They have more to achieve and work on but the best is yet to come.
