Jesuit hosted an International Women’s day celebration on Thursday, March 6th, with a lively gathering in Hayes Plaza. Women-oriented clubs came together to host a celebration featuring fun activities and treats.
Clubs like Women in Sports, Women in Healthcare, Sisters in Strength, Morgan’s Message, and more contributed to this event.
Morgan’s Message invited students to create “love rocks,” writing positive messages on rocks to promote mental well-being. Women in Weight Training hosted a deadlift challenge, rewarding participants with candy and stickers. Setons organized a “Woman’s Wisdom Board,” where students honored inspiring women by writing their names and the lessons they’ve shared on heart-shaped notes.
“This was our first time participating in the International Women’s Day Celebration and we had some fun with a matching game and poster making activities,’” said Maraki Melles, leader of Sisters in Strength.
Sisters in strength had an activity where students matched the women to the accomplishment and also wrote positive affirmation posters to put up in the bathrooms.
The celebration not only showcased the efforts of women-oriented clubs but also brought the community together in support of one another.
“I thought that the international women’s celebration was really meaningful because I got to see some of my friends promoting their clubs and it was cool to see how many of my peers chose to empower the women in their lives by showing up,” said junior Grace Clark.
The International Women’s Day celebration at Jesuit was a testament to the strength of community and the importance of uplifting one another.
