This Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, the Jesuit Crusaders men's basketball team travels to face the Sunset Apollos following a big win over the Southridge Skyhawks.
The last time the Crusaders faced the Apollos, it was a complete victory for Jesuit, with junior Major Williams leading the crusaders to a 76-35 victory.
Jesuit dominated with impressive scoring including a half-court buzzer-beater from junior Christian Lowe.
Following the game, Southridge and Westview blew out the Apollos, but the Apollos were able to bounce back and beat Aloha 61-32.
On the other hand, the Crusaders beat Westview by 20, lost to Beaverton by 1, and beat Southridge with a last second buzzer beater.
The Crusaders are looking to continue their momentum following the big win over Southridge by maintaining their physicality on defense and moving the ball effectively on offense.
“Beaverton was a tough loss for us but as we talked about in the locker room, we need to bounce back and continue to have good practices everyday so we can win Metro and get a good seed in the playoffs,” senior Max Sharp said.
A scoring drought that the Crusaders faced in the third quarter allowed the Beaverton Beavers to take the momentum to secure an unexpected one-point victory.
After this brutal upset, the Crusaders worked hard and were able to defeat the No. 2-ranked Southridge Skyhawks, who made their case for being the best team in Oregon after defeating teams like Central Catholic and the Regnier Beach Vikings from Washington.
The Crusaders went off in the 4th quarter, coming back from a 10 point deficit and overtaking the Skyhawks with a last second four-point play from senior Joe Stimpson.
“We had a big emphasis on skill work in practice and competing to give us energy going into the rest of the season,” senior Sam Curvy said.
With this win under their belts, the Crusaders have been working as a team to keep up the defensive effort they have had in past games as well as their overall offensive efficiency.
“We have been grinding in the gym since we had a bye last week. We really took this time to strengthen our bonds as teammates and friends and we are ready to take on Sunset as the second half of Metro approaches,” senior Cole Koopman added.
The Jesuit Men's basketball team travels to face the Sunset Apollos this Wednesday, February 11th with hopes to hold the series 2-0. The game tips off at 7:15 pm.
