Jesuit High School raised more than $633,000 through 1,000 gifts during its seventh annual Day of Giving day on Thursday, Febuary 12th. This year Jesuit focused on the Ken Potter Legacy Fund to honor his leadership, service, and dedication to the school.
The Day of Giving is one day of the year where Jesuit focuses on giving back to the community. The annual event raises money to help students with financial aid, help fund the arts, athletics, programs within the school, and campus ministry.
To start off our Day of Giving, the school started with donuts in the Knight Lobby to get students excited for the Day of Giving. Shortly after, Jesuit’s Got Talent took place in the Knight Gym. After watching 10 wonderful acts, the judges named Michaela Gould ‘28 as the winner.
Following the talent show, Mr. Kyle Carter ‘01 led students through Jesuit trivia during lunch. After many rounds of testing the students’ knowledge, Mr. Carter announced the class of 2026 as the class cup winners.
The alumni class cup went to the class of 1970, which raised $27,310 with a class participation rate of 34.92%.
Donations continued after school hours. The Young Alumni Challenge encouraged all grads of the last 10 years to donate and the 50th donor would “unlock” $2,000 in bonus funds for financial aid.
Another fun challenge that got the Jesuit community involved was the “#JesuitGivesBack Challenge”. If you share your JHS experience with the hashtag #JesuitGivesBack on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, you would “unlock” $3,000 in bonus funds for financial aid.
As the day wrapped up, Jesuit raised $633,00 and had over 1,000 gifts.
“Raising over $633,000 in a single day is a powerful testament to the extraordinary strength and unity of the Jesuit community,” Mr. Kyle Carter ‘01 said. “This record-breaking outpouring of support from alumni, parents, and friends proves that the bonds formed here are lifelong and deeply felt.”
