The No. 8-ranked Jesuit women’s basketball team hosts No. 25 Cleveland in the first round of the 6A playoffs Wednesday, March 4, at Knight Gym.”
The team is looking to make a loud statement in their first playoff game to give them momentum to carry them through the chiles center. Jesuit is playing with a chip on their shoulder and attempting to bounce back after two unfortunate losses at the end of the regular season.
The Crusaders played a tight game against Beaverton on Friday February 27th which came down to the wire in an electric atmosphere. The Crusaders ended up losing the game, but are looking to bounce back in the post season and go on a winning streak.
“We had a tough loss against Beaverton on Friday to end our season, but we are putting that loss behind us and using it as fuel in the post season” senior guard, Sophia Costorella said,
As playoffs are around the corner the Crusaders have been working hard on and off the court continuing to build their relationship as a team as well as sharpen their skills. The Seniors are leading the underclassman on what it is like to play in the 6A postseason.
“We have been emphasizing coming closer as a team because each game could be our last. We have stayed extra focus in practice and playing as hard as we can, so we can translate that energy to each game” said senior Lauren Redding
The Cleveland Warriors finished the season going 14-11 overall. The Warriors are in the PIL league playing teams like Jefferson, Franklin, Lincoln, Roosevelt, McDaniel, Grant, and Wells.
Earlier in the season the Warriors played a thrilling game against the Grant Generals winning by 1 at home. They finished league play going 9-7 finishing 4th in the PIL.
The Jesuit Women’s Basketball team play the Warriors first round in the 6A playoffs. Come support Wednesday March 4th in the Knight Gym.
