One year after Jesuit defeated Grant 13-8 in the state championship, the two teams meet again Thursday on Cronin Field, and the Generals are hungry for revenge.
The Jesuit Crusaders set off to play the Grant Generals at 7 p.m. This match is highly anticipated because last year the Crusaders were triumphant against the Generals during the state championship.
The class of 2025 had a big impact on both teams– the Crusaders lost seven seniors, including Quinny Handley, who is now playing lacrosse at UPenn, while the Generals lost Kate Ratanaproeksa, who is now playing at Northwestern, where the team is currently ranked third in the nation.
These crucial players have been a challenge to replace, but the Crusaders have seen success in Kate Gabrielson ‘26, by winning 23 draw controls and 16 goals in five games. Another standout crusader this year is Meg Flanagan ‘27, with 15 ground balls, 5 goals, and 10 assists, in five games.
The Crusaders have found success within fast breaks and driving right to goal when an opportunity arises.
The Generals have found success with Isla Hoffelt ‘27, who has accumulated 38 draw controls and 21 goals, in five games. She has also had an impressive summer and fall season, by committing to Cornell University. Along with Myla Zawadzki, who has 10 assists and 36 draw controls, and is only a sophomore.
After last year's state championship loss, Grant looks to seek revenge on Thursday night.
