On Wednesday April 22nd, Jesuit Softball traveled to Sunset and beat the Apollos with a 6-2 victory.
During their 2025 season, the Crusaders lost the metro league title to Sunset making them good opponents for each other. The Crusaders went into this game determined to make up for last year.
They started off strong with a double from Presley Umbdenstock in the first inning to get a rally going. They got on the board after Olivia Hildreth homered to center field, scoring Presley and herself.
In the bottom of the second inning, Sunset was able to load the bases with no outs on a double, walk, and single. The Crusaders got out of the inning and left runners on with two strikeouts and a ground out to pitcher Makena Boynay.
Boynay held a good game with 10 strike outs and a surrender of 6 hits and 2 runs over seven innings while walking three.
The game continued on with the Crusaders up 2-0 until Sunset’s Emily Belisle doubled down the left field line, helping the Apollos tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Going into the top of the seventh the Crusaders started back at the top of the lineup. Mason Rethwill singles and Dulcie Cleeland drives her in with a home run to right field scoring two runs with two outs. Selah Greene kept the bats going by hitting a double and scoring one run and Boynay brought Greene in with a double as well.
