The Jesuit men’s and women’s track and field teams are heading into the district meets. Both teams had great regular seasons with multiple Metro League dual meet wins. From the girls they had an impressive win in the Nike Twilight Invitational winning by over twenty points. The boys had demanding dual meet wins against Aloha and Southridge. The men and women are looking to keep this momentum going into the district meet.
Heading into districts key players for the men’s team are long distance runner seniors Kellen Williams, Jackson Welsh, and Liam Donnelly, and sprinters and jumpers Aaron Rodriguez, Lukas Rupert, and Sam Curvy.
“I feel like the team has a lot of grit to it, and we got a lot of guys filling where they need to fit it, and we are starting to mesh well. I feel like we can make a run at districts” senior Lukas Rupert said.
On the girls side, seniors Kianna Johnson, Mimi Thompson, Iman Foster and sophomore Addie Miller, are hoping to have great outings, and place very well in the state meet.
“We feel prepared, we have put in the work, and we’re ready to showcase what we have worked for, we’re gonna compete for our team, and make a statement, and hopefully defend our state championship,” senior Kianna Johnson said.
The boys are coming off an amazing State Championship and hope to get back there and take the trophy again. The girls are hoping to repeat their district and state championship and show that they are still a competitive track team.
The Crusaders have a two-day district meet on Wednesday, May 20, and Friday. May 22, at Mountainside Highschool. Show up and support your fellow Crusaders!
