State playoffs for softball begin this Memorial Day Weekend and the Jesuit Crusaders are looking to go far this season.
The team went 16–11 overall for the season, ending their last game with a tight, 8-7 victory over Barlow.
They finished with a record of 8-4, finishing third in the metro league.
Last season the Crusaders headed all the way to the semifinals. However, they faced a tough defeat against the Sherwood Bowman, losing 0-7.
Looking forward to playoffs, junior Eleana Regnier said, “I’m really excited to try and repeat what we did last year because I just had so much fun with our team chemistry.”
“And also ending on a good note to show our seniors how much we appreciate them,” she adds.
“I am looking forward to the feeling of competition that you don’t get in league because it’s one and done and I’m hoping to end on a strong note for my senior season,” senior Aubrey Rhodes said.
The Crusaders have a total of 4 seniors on the team this season. All of which will be headed to play softball in college.
Leading the team this season, the four seniors, Aubrey Rhodes, Paisley Rhyne, Makena Boynay, and Olivia Hildreth, will be key players to watch for the playoff season.
“I think we’re looking really strong offensively. We’ve been hitting the ball really well lately, so just hoping to continue to score lots of runs,” Aubrey said.
The team is scheduled to host Century in the first round of the OSAA state playoffs at home this Monday, May 25 at 5.
