Senior Girls dance to Can’t Stop the Feeling at the annual father-daughter dance.

The annual Father Daughter Dance took place this past weekend on Saturday, January 6th at the Hilton Hotel Downtown.

The theme was “A night in Paris” and the venue featured a big dance floor in the middle of the room and was surrounded by circular tables for the guests. Drinks and desserts were also provided.

The night started with a prayer from Mr. Maxie and then the senior girls took over the dance floor, all dancing to the song “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. Soon after everybody else joined in dancing with friends and family.

For freshman Savannah Sprague, the highlight of the night was the Dance competitions.

“My favorite part was definitely watching the father and daughter dance competitions!”

There were three categories; Swing, Hip Hop, and Decades. The competitions started with whoever wanted to participate and were narrowed down to the top three teams that volunteer mom’s decided on. Trophies were awarded to the winners of each category, which were decided by a noise level detector.

The winners of Swing were senior Ryanne Fisher and her dad Kevin Fisher. The Fishers had energy that was unmatched by anyone else on that dance floor. The runners up were seniors Grace Baker and Piper Lavey.

For the decades category, junior Amelia Kowalewski and her dad Jerrod Kowalewski won. The Kowalewskis were the stars of the show when Jaerrod threw Amelia up in the air. The runners up were junior Quinny Handley, and sophomore Susie O’Mahony.

Finally, the Hip Hop category was won by sophomore Amani Lubrano and her dad Octavio Lubrano, who amazed the crowd with his break dance moves. Runners up were senior Kayla Contreras and freshman Ella Rask.

Juniors Maura O’Scannlain and Meredith Holland both enjoyed their time at this annual event with their dads. It was Holland’s first time at the dance and said she looked forward to spending a great time with her dad and participating in the dance competitions.

“I have seen a new side of my dad and his moves are crazy!” Holland said.

Holland and her dad participated in every dance competition but fell short of the top three.

It was O’Scannlain’s third year at the dance and she said she enjoyed watching the dance competitions.

“My favorite part is always the dance competitions,” O’Scannlin said, “They are always the most entertaining and so fun to watch!”

Junior Emma Bennet’s dad, Chris Bennet said, “I loved getting to spend time with my daughter while also making friends with some of the dads I might not have met otherwise!”
